9/1/08 - SOPRANO SOLOIST WITH CEDAR RAPIDS SYMPHONY

The Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra opens its 2008-2009 season with a historic performance on the lawn at Brucemore on September 20th. Karla Goettel will be the featured soprano soloist, along with soloists Katharine Goeldner, Nathan Granner and Jeff Fields. This very special evening of music and song will feature Beethoven's greatest expression of joy and love in the performance of his Ninth Symphony- the Ode to Joy.

Karla's recently released CD, "Just Great Songs", was the best-selling CD at the Cedar Rapids Barnes & Noble this week - the first time this has ever been achieved by a local artist. Sales have been boosted by great reviews, such as that by The Cedar Rapids Gazette.

Karla's new CD "Just Great Songs" has arrived and is ready for purchase just in time for the Holidays! Already receiving rave reviews, the disc is available at several Cedar Rapids retailers or you can purchase it here today. “Just Great Songs” is a compilation of Karla's favorite songs, gathered from a career of performing in different genres. 11/12/07 - "JUST GREAT SONGS"--CD RELEASE UPDATE

Karla Goettel's new CD, "Just Great Songs" is scheduled for release on December 1st. After the success of her concerts of this new program, Karla received a grant from the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts to orchestrate some of the selections and record it. Andrew Lloyd Webber melts into Puccini and Gershwin complements Dvorak. This CD will also feature the music of American Broadway composer Robert Lindsey-Nassif. CD's will be available for preview and sale on this site soon.

7/1/07 - FRINGE FESTIVAL

Karla Goettel has been invited to appear at the 3rd annual Iowa Fringe Festival. The festival will take place in Des Moines, Iowa July 19 through the 22nd. Karla will appear at the State of Iowa Historical Building, Iowa Public Theatre with her new show, "Just Great Songs." Weaving musical theatre, opera, operetta, American folk and art song together, this cabaret-style show is an emotional journey for audiences.

11/6/06 - MY FATHER'S MUSIC

Karla

Soprano Karla Goettel will share the stage with Cantor Jennifer Bern-Vogel in a program of art songs on December 3, 2006 at Ohef Shalom Temple in Norfolk, Virginia. The program will feature the music of the late pianist and composer Julian Bern. Karla Goettel worked with Bern extensively and premiered many of his vocal works.
